This summer, London's biggest rooftop dining venue has returned to Television Centre in White City – where BBC staff used to park their cars. For the next 25 weeks, Pergola on the Roof will offer a 600-capacity crowd the chance to drink and dine in the Hamptons-inspired surroundings.

The lowdown

British summertime is no guarantee of sunshine, but at Pergola on the Roof you will be able to enjoy alfresco fun no matter the weather, thanks to a huge covered area and thoughtful touches like blankets draped over the benches for you to borrow. This year, the rooftop is open Wednesdays to Sundays and plays host to four exciting restaurant partners and two bars. You can mix and match your favourites, then settle down to eat under Pergola's palm-trees or on one of the bookable 12-person day-beds. Long Island living is echoed in the white-washed wood and chic decking.

Menu highlights

The legendary burger chain Patty & Bun has resumed its usual spot on the site, serving delights such as the Smokey Robinson: a beef patty in brioche with cheese, tomato, lettuce, mounds of caramelised onions, bacon, ketchup and smoky P&B mayo (also, don't miss the chips with rosemary salt). It is joined by three of London's foodie favourites: Breddos Tacos, who will be dishing out fresh Masa fried chicken, pico de gallo, habanero mayo and breddos hot sauce; and sweet potato, almond chile, feta, spring onion and sesame variations; 8 Hoxton Square, whose Mediterranean plates – such as burrata and tomato salad, and chargrilled prawns with yoghurt, parsley and pomegranate – use only the most seasonal ingredients; and Salt 'n' Sauce, the spin-off brand of Bonnie Gull with its iconic tempura Schehallion beer-battered fish and triple-cooked, beef-dripping chunky chips, as well as other seafood dishes and whippy ice-cream.
